Every Once in a While.....
Stop it, Naer. (That's how Zella refers to her twin brother, Zander. Naer. It's pronounced something like NAIR but with more of an emphasis on an e sound as opposed to what the short i does to air. Nay-er with less of a y. Try it. Naer. Naer. Oh forget it. By the time you figure out how she does it she will have mastered the next phonetic phase in her development and the word will be lost forever.)
Stop it Naer.
I wan dat. I WAN daaatt!!
Naer, no!!! (Crying ensues and more arguing. More words are exchanged but quite honestly it's hard enough to decipher when they are speaking without tears and whining.)
There's no real point to the argument. Is there ever really when two year olds are involved? I suppose my point in relaying is that the scene above is repeated daily at least three or four times, often more but seldom less. It would seem that I am forever engaged in a struggle to keep the peace around here. A task made more difficult by the fact that I find myself having to yell so loud to be heard above their screaming that my message becomes clearly--incongruous when considered with the tone of my delivery.
But every once in a while, when the planets align just so, there is peace. Be it ever so fleeting, there is peace. I was looking for a picture I had taken several months back--(I didn't have to look too hard for I've got pictures on my camera from January that I've yet to download. Maybe you remember that post.) Anyway, I stumbled upon this picture that will surely be displayed prominently at family gatherings, first dates, prom nights, graduation nights, weddings and all manner of noteworthy occasions for years to come.

Yeah. Every once in a while there is peace.

Oh, that is just tooooooo precious! And those curls! How sweet is that?
I have no idea why my babies didn't inherit my curls. One day, they will probably be happy about this (being a middle-schooler with wild and unruly curls was no fun), but I can't help looking enviously upon curly headed babies!
They look so pleased with each other (and themselves) at that particular moment. hee hee!
I fell certain they will curse the curls as they grow older. I know I did! And growing up in the south where humidity and curls is a toxic mixture--oy!
theres a kick in the windpipe for ya...
sweet.
I was happy to have found it--completely forgot I took that one. It's my new screensaver for a while.
Sweet! It still amazes me that our kids, fighting as often and as much as they do with one another, can still be sooo sweet!
My 5 are still fighting though... ha!
I feel like Rodney King on most days.
What is this peace thing you speak of? I know it not.
I think they were kissing because only moments prior they had been fighting. I told them to kiss and make up. It didn't last long.
LOL. I'm sure that they will love that! At least you will have it and have leverage over them when they are older and being 'difficult'.
Oh, I'll use it. They don't even know. I'll use it!
Love the "Naer" tutorial. I think I got it! Lovely pic!
Funny thing is that the little imp refuses to repeat it when you ask her. I'm not even sure I got it right. She just smiles like she knows she holds the secret but refuses to let you in on it.
That is so sweet!
I read some interesting statistic about how often siblings fight in an hour...about 7 - 12 times!!!That's crazy!
My two are starting to squabble and they're almost 5 years apart. Guess it doesn't really matter, the gap!
Statistics are averages representing median numbers between lows and highs. I think my kids may have thrown off the curve. 7-12 seems a bit low to me!
I'm tagging you for a meme, BTW. No pressure; no probs if you skip it... I know you're VERY BUSY!!
OMG look at those strawberry curls!! Yummy!
The summer sunshine has yellowed them right up!
My son is 16, daughter 13. Yesterday, when we had too much company and not enough couches, I found them cuddled up on the couch together, looking much like a loving brother and sister. I wanted to get the camera, but I didn't want to ruin the moment. It was sweet, as you can imagine. I've always told my son, "Be nice to your sister; you might want to date one of her friends some day..."
