Watching the Wheels

Sometimes, things just hit me in the right manner. They seem to appropriately apply, I guess you could say. Mostly it's music, but it could be other things. A book, an article, a comic strip, a quote or quip. Even a word or sentence. Like I said, it could be anything but mostly it's music. I'm in the van the other day which is not so unusual as I spend a great deal of time in my beloved Grand Caravan and the station plays a song I have heard countless times over the last twenty five or so years. I've never given it a second thought, never considered the words or the meaning. Never attempted to dissect what was going on in his head when he wrote the song.
Oh, there's plenty of conjecture about what he meant and what he was trying to say. I've just never paid it any mind. Still haven't. And probably won't. You see, the song hit me in just the right way the other day and I was able to appreciate it's meaning and intents for how it applies to me, to my life now. Twenty years ago it was just a cool song. Today, it does a pretty decent job of describing where I am in my life and it's still a pretty cool song. I am a dad and this is my life.

Have to tell you that was great. I love that compilation and the song fit perfect! In my family we grew up to a hefty dose of John Lennon and this song was on quite a bit. My dad was a huge Beatles/Lennon fan and we all cried when he was shot dead. Don't know what I told you that, but I bet you can relate somehow. Peace man!

I was never a huge fan but it seems as I get older I appreciate their music and what they did so much more. I really miss Lennon.

You see, I look at things like this and I think "this is what the internet was invented for", the ability for all of us to record exactly what we are thinking right now at any given point in our lives and then, in twenty years time, for our children to look back at what we did and know for sure just how we felt about them and how complete they make us.

Thanks so much. I sometimes wonder if it's worth recording the minutiae of my life and that of my kids. But you're right, I hope that one day they can look back and know that their dad really felt they were special, important and loved.

What song was it? I'm sorry, I have dial up at home, so it would take like an hour to download a minute of video - and at work I have high speed, but don't want to get busted for watching videos on the clock...

You have a beautiful family. I've always wanted a "pack" of kids. I have one awesome one, but I wish I could times him by 3 or 4. Great slideshow.

You're right - that song is perfect! The pictures are adorable, and the kids will certainly look back at videos like this and feel so special!!
